Willis's heart pounded hard in his chest as he watched Wendigomon's body convulse and quiver, as if made of jelly. And Wendigomon's colors began to shift as well, from reds to blues to greens and so forth. It was both an unbelievable and horrible site.
Izzy stared back and forth at his laptop screen and Wendigomon, "This is not good, you guys. It appears that the virus is trying to force Wendigomon to digivolve, but Wendigomon doesn't have the ability to digivolve any further than he already has."
R.J. looked at Izzy, "So what does that mean? What's going to happen if the virus doesn't stop?"
Izzy snapped his laptop shut, and looked up at the pulsating figure. He frowned, "I'm not sure, but from the looks of it..." He paused. "From the looks of it, if the virus doesn't stop, it will either deform Wendigomon beyond recognition, or simply kill him." At that, everyone gasped.
Max suddenly spoke up, "Izzy, I thought you said Kari and Billy were going to arrive here the same way we did. Why aren't they here yet?"
Izzy shook his head, "I'm not sure, Max. It could be any number of things. They may have gone to the wrong place, they may not be able to get the Digiport to work for them like it did for us." After a moment, he added, "Or maybe they've run into a bit of trouble themselves."
Kari and Billy rushed down the street as fast as they could. The streets were so torn up, they had long since left Kari's car behind to continue their pursuit on foot. Kari looked to her digivice, and sure enough the signal was still there. They were close to another Digidestined, but something very destructive was chasing him or her.
It was then that Kari's cell phone rang. She and Billy stopped running, and Kari flipped open her phone and answered with "Hello?" It was her older brother, Tai.
"Kari," Tai said with what seemed like a lot of urgency in his voice, "It's Tai. We're in my car driving down fifth street, and get this! We're being chased by a Digimon!" In the background, Kari could here both the squealing of the car around a turn, and loud thudding sounds the seemed to echo, as she could also hear them in the distance.
At that moment Kari realized that Tai hadn't said anything about either him or Sora receiving new digivices, nor their Digimon returning. That only left one person who could have the digivice they had been tracking. "Tai," she quickly shouted into the phone, "just hold on! I'm coming!" She slammed the flap of the phone shut, cutting off Tai at, "What are you..."
She turned to Billy, and the two Digimon at his feet. The first of the Digimon was Salamon, the rookie form of Gatomon. It was pink and furless, and resembled a puppy in many ways. It stood on four round feet, had two large floppy ears, and had a gold colored collar with digicode written around it.
The other Digimon was Tapirmon, the rookie form of Wizardmon. It resembled an elephant, or a mammoth, and stood on all fours as well. Short tusks jutted out from under a metal cap that covered the top of its head. His body was covered with brown hair, until near the back legs were it seemed to fade into a cloud-like mass.
"Billy," Kari said with a heavy tone, "We have got to find that Digimon and put a stop to it right away." Billy nodded, and the for of them bolted down the street as fast as they could. Following the path of torn streets and badly damaged buildings, the four of them soon caught up with the Digimon in question. Just then, as the sun gleamed off the edge of the Digimon as it turned to face them, Kari wished they hadn't.
Aside from the sunglasses, the most distinguishing feature of the Digimon was that it appeared to be a cross between a banana and a stuffed monkey toy; yellow in color with a drooping point on the top of its head and a thin tail behind it. Also, at its waist was a small Monzaemon ‘clock'. After all the stories she had heard, Kari had hoped she would never have to meet Etemon.
"Well well well, what do we have here?" Etemon said with a voice in obvious imitation of ‘The King'. He pointed at Salamon and Tapirmon and scoffed, "Looks like two digi-shrimp have come to take me on. Ha! Hey, just to show I'm a good sport, I'll let you decide who I'll obliterate first." And then he quickly added with his Elvis accent, "Uh-huh huh."
"Come on, Tapirmon," Salamon said with disdain in her voice, "Let's show this oversized carnival prize what we're made of." Salamon turned to Kari, who already had her digivice in hand. Tapirmon turned to Billy, who pulled out his digivice as well.
As Gatomon and Wizardmon took form, Etemon scoffed again, "I've seen this trick before, babies, uh-huh huh. And frankly, I'm not impressed." Etemon proceeded to hold his palm face-up, and suddenly a microphone appeared in a small puff of smoke. Etemon smirked and called out, "Concert Crush!" He then put the microphone near his mouth, and began to sing. His voice sent out ripples of sound through the air, and as they impacted Gatomon and Wizardmon, the two put there hands over their ears and fell to their knees. Kari and Billy too had to cover their ears.
Billy shouted over Etemon's singing, "Wizardmon, you can beat him! You have to try!" Wizardmon slowly but surely began to outstretch his right arm, so his open palm faced Etemon. With a grunt of effort, Wizardmon let out a shout, "Thunder Ball!" With that, a round yellow ball of thunder leapt from his hand and into Etemon's stomach, knocking him on his butt.
Etemon grunted as he hit the cracked pavement, and his microphone fell from his hand and disappeared in another puff of smoke as it hit the street. Etemon quickly leaped to his feet again, and angrily shouted, "What's the big idea?!" He held out his arm the same way Wizardmon had, "You're not the only one with a few tricks up his sleeve, uh-huh huh. Shadow ball!" A ball of purplish-black energy leapt from his palm into Wizardmon, knocking him onto his back and causing him to slide backwards several yards.
Billy gasped, "Wizardmon!" He turned to Etemon, "You stupid monkey! Why don't you go eat the ticks off your mother's back!"
Etemon growled, almost dropping the Elvis accent for a moment, "No one talk's about my mamma like that! Dark Network!" Then several black wires burst out from under the street around Billy, and wrapped around him tightly, then raised him into the air."
"Lightning Claw!" Gatomon yelled out, and leaped past the wires, claws bared. Seconds later, the wires fell apart in small pieces, and Billy fell to the ground. Gatomon turned to Etemon, anger in her eyes, "This one's for Wizardmon!" She leaped at him, both claws bared and ready, "Lightning Claw!"
But just as Gatomon neared Etemon, he lashed out with a quick kick, stopping Gatomon in mid-air. Gatomon fell to the pavement with a pained gasp.
Kari cried out, "Gatomon!" Kari ran to her Digimon's side, ignoring Etemon and lifting Gatomon up in her arms.
"Aw, isn't this beautiful?" Etemon commented sarcastically, and he chuckled, "But seriously, now it's time to say bye-bye Digidestined, uh-huh huh." He lunged forward, knocking Gatomon from Kari's arms and knocking Kari herself to the ground. Etemon smirked, "Aw man, this is gonna be too easy." Kari didn't move.
Gatomon leapt up, and at the sight of Kari, fury filled her eyes. She glanced to Wizardmon, whom Billy was helping to his feet. Wizardmon nodded to her, and she nodded to him in return. Gatomon announced in a bold tone, "That's it, Etemon, you've gone too far this time! Now we're going to delete you for good!"
Etemon made a fist, but before he could swing, Gatomon called out, "Cat's Eye Hypnotism!" Several red rings of light flashed from Gatomon's eyes, and Etemon became temporarily dazed. Gatomon seized the opportunity, leaping into the air high above Etemon. "Wizardmon," she called out, "Now!"
Wizardmon whipped out his wand, and as Gatomon began to turn in mid-air, her bared claw facing down, the two called out together, "Lightning Strike-Down!" Lightning streaked from Wizardmon's wand to Gatomon's claw, and with a spark surrounded Gatomon's descending body with electricity. She struck downwards like a bold of lightning, first hitting the top of Etemon's head and going straight through until striking the ground with a loud eruption. And, when the flash of light cleared, Etemon was no where to be seen.
Tai swerved the car around a turn sharply. The large Digimon chasing them nearly ran past them, but skidded its feet to a halt and turned to continue its pursuit. There was no cars or people on the street that lay before them; the streets had been cleared by the police long since. Tai nearly floored the petal, and the car accelerated to 110mph with a sudden jolt. "I'm scared, mommy!" little Sonya, only five years old, cried from the back seat. Tai wished he could spare his child this ordeal, but he knew he could not.
"I know, honey," Sora replied sweetly, even if a bit shakily, "I am too, but you have to be brave for mommy and daddy, okay?" Sonya nearly whispered in return, "Okay, mommy." Sora was concerned for her daughter, but even more prevalent in her mind was anger. She glanced at the digivice grasped firmly in her five year old daughter's little hand. How could they, whoever they are, choose a little five year old girl to be Digidestined?! she thought to herself, It was bad enough when T.K. and Kari would only eight, but this is unforgivable!
Suddenly the car swung around another turn, but the Digimon just kept on following. Sonya turned her worried face to the small Digimon sitting next to her. It was a small, round, in-training Digimon with a very light green color. It had beady little eyes, a small lipless mouth, and two petite little white wings at its sides. This Digimon was Beyamon.
Suddenly a light flashed in front of them, and Sonya whipped her head up to look as her father slammed on the breaks, the car skidding to a halt. Tendrils of smoke rose from a large crater in the street before them. Tai and Sora exchanged nervous glances.
"This is all because that big scary guy wants me, isn't it mommy?" Sora stiffened, and slowly turned her head to her daughter. Sonya straightened in her seat, and reached for the door, "I guess I have to go make him go away."
Sora reached out her arm to stop her daughter, but was stopped by Tai's firm grasp. Tai was frowning, but he tried to wane a smile, "We have to let her go. Wether we like it or not, she is Digidestined." Sora frowned deeper, but slowly nodded. Then all four of them, Beyamon included, exited the car to face the Digimon.
DarkTyrannomon looked down at them and growled. He was a very large dinosaur Digimon, like a black tyrannosaurus with a white underbelly, red stripes in random places, and jagged red spikes going down its back. He also had very large claws, one of them plated with metal on the ends. Fearsome yellowed teeth slicked with drool jutted out from its open and hungry mouth.
Sonya gulped, and slowly stepped forward, with Beyamon in her arms. DarkTyrannomon growled again, but this time little streams of fire leaked through its jaws. Sora cried out, "Sonya, no!" But before she could do anything, DarkTyrannomon called out, "Dark Blaze Blast!" Fire streaked from its mouth toward Sonya and Beyamon...
